Another Wild Camp
A low-level wild camp with plenty of chances to stop by the water, capped by a very warm night out. The full route came to 26.25 km with 8636.6 m of elevation gain.
Quick Summary
We kept the route low to save the legs and stay close to swim spots, which made it feel more relaxed than a bigger hill day. The standout memory was camp itself: calm, warm, and almost too mild for sleeping comfortably.
Day 1
Rather than heading high, we stayed on lower ground and let the day unfold at an easier pace. That worked well for recovery, and it also meant we were never too far from the water when we fancied a break.
By the time we stopped for the night, the weather had turned into one of those rare wild-camping evenings where everything feels simple. It was warm enough to make camp comfortable, though almost a bit too warm once we were settled in.
Highlights and Learnings
A few things stood out from this one:
- Keeping low was the right call for tired legs.
- Staying near swim spots gave the day a different rhythm and made the route feel less rushed.
- Warm, still nights are great for camp life, even if they do make sleeping a little less comfortable.
It was a simple trip, but one that felt well judged for the conditions and for how we were feeling.
